Abstract

New knowledge concerning the best outreach methods for Japanese knotweed in Washington Township, Michigan will be explored in my thesis project. By investigating public opinions on invasive species in respect to demographics (that is, age, gender, and level of education), it is possible to find an optimal outreach method that educates a majority of the residents in Washington Township. Furthermore, an outreach program has the ability to motivate residents to promote the management of Japanese knotweed. By using Washington Township as a model and a case study, it is possible to apply the drafted outreach program to other communities for their benefit.
