"Sen. Debbie Stabenow, the first woman from Michigan elected to the U.S. Senate, will talk about women, politics, careers and the climate for dissent in Washington, D.C., on Friday, March 22, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Oakland Center Fireside Lounge. A reception in her honor will follow. Stabenow, D-Lansing, was elected to the U.S. Senate in November 2000 and was sworn in to the elected position on January 3, 2001."
