dc.description.abstract"Among a crowd of more than 500, Oakland University President Gary Russi presented Veronica Atkins, wife of the late Robert Atkins, MD, with the National Pre-Symptom Medicine Impact Award. Atkins accepted the honor on behalf of her late husband during the Protect Your Health Lectures on Saturday, June 5, at Meadow Brook Theatre. The lectures were part of the First National Congress on Pre-Symptom Medicine held at Oakland University June 4-6. The award recognizes Robert Atkins' work on weight reduction by generating national awareness of the effects of high carbohydrates on weight gain and obesity"en_US
