The experiment has not shown any new major breakthroughs to help understand Microcystis and how their environment affects the toxin production. However, Microcystis is a living organism. In the future there will have to be more research completed to figure out what exactly affects the microcystin and how to reduce the risk on human health. If we can control the algae blooms, then there is a better chance of fewer humans and other organisms affected. Many scientists have predicted an increase of blooms in the future due to climate change and this could be a more substantial problem because it effects water.en_US
