| dc.description.abstract | Excerpt from essay by Dick Goody: Carlos Rolón was born in Chicago of Puerto Rican parents in 1970, and the tendency has been to alight upon this fact as the single denominating characteristic of his work – like a headlining brand, if you will – but this identification does not fully capture the artist’s almost psychic ability to synthesize and fuse genres from a multitude of extant cultural sources. The potentiality, particularity and lushness of the subject matter he employs are drawn from a variety of experiences and places. | |
