dc.description.abstract | Oral recitation of poetry has a long tradition in the Academy. Reading out loud reminds us of poetry’s corporeal nature, of how poetry is breath and the pressure of tongues against teeth as much as ink on paper. Reading poetry out loud reminds us of the irretrievably social nature of language. | en_US |
