However, the outcome of this process is significantly influenced by many different factors including material properties, lubrication, and forming processes. Friction plays a crucial role in this process by influencing the overall part quality, tool life, and cost of production. An analysis of the effects of friction in sheet metal forming was performed, along with studies of current methods of measuring friction in sheet metal forming. Two conceptual slidometers were designed to measure friction using different methods, and both designs were analyzed.
