Although some OU students will be able to cast their votes on Nov. 2, others won't have a chance to make it back to their home districts on Election Day. Residence Halls Programming (RHP) and the University Housing staff have created a solution to this problem by hosting an absentee ballot registration drive to assist students in obtaining absentee ballots from their home districts."Item "Academic Skills Center offers free peer tutoring"(Oakland University, 2004-03-09) Oakland University"About 1,500 students each year visit the Academic Skills Center for peer tutoring. Tutors are available to work with students either one-on-one or in a group, and the service is free of charge to all enrolled OU students. The site consolidates information in one location for ease of use."Item "ACE Fellow program eye-opening experience"(Oakland University, 2002-05-28) Oakland University"Bob Wiggins, associate professor in the School of Education and Human Services, is spending winter, spring and summer semesters with OU President Gary Russi behind closed doors, in high-level meetings and at university events. He's shadowing Russi as part of his experience as an American Council on Education Fellow. The ACE Fellowship program is a prestigious appointment providing a select group of faculty and administrators an internship in higher education administration"Item "Actors help future physical therapists"(Oakland University, 2003-03-14) Oakland University"Physical therapy students from Oakland University's Patient Management course use the techniques they've learned to work with patients who have various ailments. Only he "patients" really aren't patients at all ??? they're students from OU's Department of Music, Theatre and Dance. The DPT students are presented with a brief report of each "patient's" condition, including a diagnosis and any restrictions, then work on helping patients learn to maneuver apart from their wheelchair."Item "Actress honors Aphra Behn in one-person show"(Oakland University, 2004-03-03) Oakland University"Aphra Behn (1640-1689) was a noted dramatist, poet and novelist, who wrote more than 20 plays, including ''The Rover,'' and two novels. Her success was remarkable, given the times when women were not encouraged to work outside the home. Actress/playwright Karen Eterovich will perform her one-person show, ''Love Arm'd, Aphra Behn & Her Pen,'' on Tuesday, March 9, at 4 p.m. in Varner Recital Hall."
