Valley Forge Is _
an Ideal Location
‘Returning from the National »
Jamboree at Valley Forge, the Boy
Scouts of our own Clinton Valley
Council not only experienced an
outing they never will forget, but got
it in intimate touch with one of our
nation’s most hallowed historical
‘shrines.
: x *«* x
Their locale was one of the best
on the grounds, They were camped
almost within a stone’s throw of some
of the cabins where the heroes who
_ ‘won our independence spent a grue-
some winter, and where Grorce
_ ‘Wasuinctow later designated as the
one spot in the Revolution where he
: almost lost heart.
2 - ‘No Michigan delegation had a
= better location than Clinton
Valley. Its unique, original and
truly representative entrance
dominated anything in the Region
Seven area, composed of over
6,000 Scouts from Illinois, In-
diana, Wisconsin and Michigan.
It was the only entrance to tell
the local story in detail, both in
word and illustration.
; <2
- Inquiry as to the location of any
council in the region generally
brought a response as to their direc-
tion from Clinton Valley. —
. Our tents were in perfect order,

ow the chow accomodations were tops, a
J general-spirit of good will prevailed,
yp and the men in charge quickly fer-
reted out a homesick boy and put
hirn at ease. They made him one of
the gang.
ee a
opening pageant at the Jamboree very
comfortably accomodated the 55,000
Scouts and the thousands of special
guests, and everybody had a good seat
— on the ground — with an unob-
structed view of the enormous stage.
- The world never before had such a
gathering. = The ground was covered with
grass, and was not a dust bowl,
as was the case at the last
‘Jamboree which was held near
Los Angeles.
Held every three or four years, this
was the second time that Valley Forge
On both occasions the entire Phila-
delphia area went all out. Nothing
was overlooked. |
While its geographical location is
not conducive to the fostering of a
large attendance from the western
states. it would seem that Valley
Forge should be the site for at least
one-half of the future. get togethers
of the largest youth and manhood
building organization in our nation.
x *« * 3 Regardless of where it may be held, Valley Council will be there in the
full. numbers of our quota, which
this time was filled’ several months
in advance,.And we know of Cub
Scouts who already are saving their
pennies, in order to be ready to grab
this great opportunity as soon as it
is offered. : .

it was pointed out that offering in-
