Tougher Foreign Policy Is the tougher E1isENHOWER-DULLES _ foreign policy achieving what its spon- sors expected of it? Because there is belief in some quar- ters that results are encouraging, it is well to define what these sources mean by “tougher” policy. Briefly, they view it as the Administration’s determination to keep the already seized initiative in world affairs. It also includes the idea of boldly pressing toward our Government’s legitimate ob- y jectives. overseas and calling every Communist bluff. £-* ® This doesn’t imply that the Russians have chariged either their strategy or their goal. All signs still point to their belief that they can get what they want by bluff, trickery, propaganda and in- filtration. *yg ‘ That this country has suffered from the Kremlin’s success with these tactics is part of a regret- table record. Also apparent, however, is increasing evidence that the Kremlin is in no position to add force to its stock of well worn diplomatic weapons to gain its ends. In fact these are so character- istic they ean be considered trade- marks. The white marble steps brighten the fronts of many of the city’s terrace homes. * * * The picture window screen was devel- oped about 40 years ago by WILLIAM Oxravec. His office girls complained that passersby were peering at them through screened windows. His solution. was simple. He painted a picture on the outside of the screen. That blocked the view from the outside without cutting it off from the inside and a new industry was born. , * * * Now 69, Mr. Oxtavec still is training young men to make Baltimore screens pictorial. The average price for this work is $3 to $10 and the most popular pic- ture is an invit home scene featuring a red roofed bungalow, trees, green lawn and a pond. The people of Baltimore deserve credit for such general adoption of an idea that has made the utilitarian win- dow screen the vehicle for artistic ex- pression. In this beautiful word we are brought face to face with the eternal love of God the Father. That love breaks upon us like a heavenly deluge. He loved so much that His own Son was not held back when the moment of supreme sacrifice came. His most precious possession was given to prove His love. In the light of this gift to guarantee my salvation, how glorious it is to re- joice that all my other needs will be supplied from this same generous hand. No want of mine can possibly be too great for One who has triumphantly demonstrated His love for me. He loves me now. He will freely give now, He will always be the divine Lover who will delight to give. What sublime assurance! Hallelujah! What a Saviour! Dr. Kyle M.
