The answer is that lightning does 
strike individuals, but only rare?!

tall tree definitely ‘draw’ the elec- 
trical discharges that are light-. 
ning. But a human being is too 
short to act as much of a light-' 
ning rod. 
Nevertheless, out in the open. |

Charlies Santo, searching for a 
car which had fallen through the,

heard cries for help. When he 
couldn't locate anyone, he called 
police and the search started. 
Officially the search was called

men stayed on, although off duty.   
Young Larry told this story in 
the hospital: 
“We were out skating and noticed 
the iceberg so we decided to inves-

Handy Dies at 71 
YPSILANTI —George Charles 
Handy, founder and publisher of 
the Ypsilanti Daily Press, died) 
Saturday at University Hospital in 
Ann Arbor. He was 71 years old.

Handy, who had been ijl for the 
past 15 months, entered the hos- 
pital Jan. 14. 
He was born June 9, 1886, on’ a 
farm in Handy Township near 
Fowlerville, Mich. The family later 
moved to Owosso where he attend- 
ed school. : 
He leaves his wife, Lulu: a 
daughter, Jane Adelaide Kohlen- 
berg of New York, and a son, 
Frank Gifford Handy of Ypsilanti, 
who is assistant to the publisher 
of the Ypsilanti Daily Press.
