WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14, 1959 Group Suggests Difference Is Inferiority By MURIEL LAWRENCE A group of psychiatrists, psy- chologists and social workers has paid tribute to the late Dr. Law- son G. As Joan's “group,” your relatives, aeigh- bors, friends are always making hair. Joan believes that hers is inferior, But the fact is, Babsy’s It is seldom a question of his actual inferiority: It is instead a question of the difference between the individual and the group to which he must adjust. Conflict over difference is a major problem in These, words hold very explosive | work, corrupting this reality. So Joan's skin tone and her facial structure are unlike Babsy’s rosy- cheeked roundness. Her straight, blonde hair is exactly the kind she needs to set them off. The man, Augustus Griggs, died at St. Mary’s Hospital Saturday from injuries he received in an ac- cident early Friday. Griggs was taken to the hos- pital after the accident and treat- ed for head and face cuts and then released to police custody. Taken to police, headquarters, he was jailed for’ investigation of drunk driving. Griggs was found unconscious in his cell in city jail about noon, examined by a doctor and taken back to St. Mary’s Hospital. The city commission yesterday ordered City Manager Donald M.. Oakes and City Attorney Claude Vanderploeg to investigate the man’s death after an attorney told the commission ‘‘criminal neglect” caused his death. . * * & Attorney Alphonse Lewis Jr. said Griggs was given a “‘cursory” ex- amination by an intern at the hos- pital, treated for cuts and then released to police “‘who were anx- ious to make a blood test on him.” At the jail, Lewis said, Griggs was put in an “unheated cell” and “trembled so: badly his shoes fell off.” Lewis said Griggs’ brother, Who also was in jail, trie@ to get officers to take his brother back to the hospital for further treatment “but no one paid any attention to him.’ Police Superintendent William Johnson, who said he assigned a detective to investigate the case shortly after Griggs died, said he could not understand why the man eer | UPI Phote was released from the hospital. The paper, entitled ““A New Con- cept of Light Weight Highway Tractor Design,’’ was co-authored by C. V. Crockett, chief engineer, and D. J.
